Lead Teacher (Full-Time)

KCA is seeking a relational, organized, team-oriented educator/leader to serve as a Lead Teacher during the 2019-20 Academic Year for the following grade levels: High School (9-12)

Responsibilities

Teachers will work alongside Administration to ensure a well-rounded educational experience for students assigned to these classrooms. Teachers must be versed in student-related issues, and be willing to perform other duties of the school, as needed.  Teachers report directly to the Administrator, as well as serve on the Kanawha Christian Academy PreK-12 Leadership Team.  We are seeking a committed, mature believer and effective leader who understands both Christian education and an individualized instructional approach to learning that promotes both ability and intellectual proficiency.  The candidate must be able to interact with students, communicate with parents, and relate to the Kanawha Christian Academy community.  The candidate must also be able to advance the mission of the school as guided by Scripture.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • An administrative oversight of the KCA community, including its teachers and students
  • Teach a variety of subjects, including social skills and bible
  • Demonstrate the ability to enhance academic performance
  • Demonstrate competence in content knowledge appropriate to the teaching position
  • Demonstrate competence in planning and preparing for instruction
  • Use strategies to deliver instruction that meets the multiple learning needs of students
  • Use effective classroom management strategies
  • Fulfill all the responsibilities of the IEP, including timely progress monitoring and using progress monitoring data to guide instruction
  • Work collaboratively with other educational professionals
  • Engage in professional growth

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certification or Endorsement with the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners (BOEE) or the Association of Christian Schools International
  • Preferred: Reading Endorsement
